One of the most popular questions I get asked is, “What are some good summer reads?”

I love and struggle with the question, because I’ve read well over 600 good books.

So far this year, I’ve experienced a powerful, upward shift in my thinking. It feels as if everything I’ve known to be true at a very deep level has been voiced by other people in words that I couldn’t quite form myself.

George Orwell said, “A good book isn’t one that you read, but one that reads you”. Do ya hear me on that one?

Looking back, whenever I’ve had a big uptick in mindset and an increase in my confidence, it’s almost always as a direct result of the book I’ve been reading. Jim Rohn said, “The difference between where you are today and where you’ll be in five years from now will be found in the quality of the books you’ve read.”

I know that to be true. Because the books that you don’t read won’t help you.

So I wanted to share 3 good summer reads that have me going gaga right now.

  1. Real Artists Don’t Starve by Jeff Goins

“There is no greater pain than living a lie when the truth is buried deep inside you.”

I mean… Does anyone feel that way about their day job? Heck – I used to.

When I wanted to quit my high paying job to be a writer, coach and spiritual teacher, almost everyone laughed. But not Jeff Goins, author of this fabulous book and the mentor I turned to in moments of doubt. Because he was living proof of what a successful writer looks like – a true creative who makes a great living doing work he loves.

This book turns on it’s head the antiquated belief that you can’t make money as a creative person (something I’ve never believed but the masses still tell you is true). It’s the starving artist myth debunked. I wish I wrote this myself!

Jeff’s book is a guide for how to make a living off your “art,” whether that’s writing, drawing, singing, speaking, or any other creative talent we think doesn’t deserve its due. Step by step, you will learn:

  1. How to steal from your influences… in the right way

  2. Why you don’t need to be a loner to be a genius (amen)!

  3. How to take strategic risks (instead of the opposite – reckless ones)

  4. What it takes to make money off your art – can I say amen once more?!

You can snag your copy on pre-order here.

In addition, as an affiliate partner of Jeff’s (I was lucky enough to read a copy before it’s release!), if you pre-order Jeff’s book now, you’ll receive three special bonuses worth over $200 using this link. You’re welcome! 🙂

2. Get Rich, Lucky Bitch! By Denise Duffield Thomas

“It’s my time and I’m ready for the next step.”

Repeat this twice daily and amazing things will start to happen.

As a coach who works with entrepreneurs and Side Hustlers, I deal with a lot of money blocks. A money block, put simply, is anything that blocks you around earning, attracting, receiving, having, keeping hold of, saving, managing and leveraging the money you want. As a result, you sabotage your own abundance. And abundance is your birthright.

Most of my clients struggle with allowing themselves to receive. They believe making money has to be a struggle. They feel like have to sweat for every single dollar.

3 Good Summer Reads I’m Crazy For Right Now.001

It’s simply not true. Check out her fab quote I recently posted on my Instagram page. After posting this a few very successful friends of mine actually wrote to me sharing their struggle with this. I always end up directing them to Denise’s work! Because she totally changed my own view of money and opened my receptivity to set my financial goals high.

I had a quote of her’s on my phone for a long time once, it said “It’s safe for me to be a rich, powerful woman.”

I defer back to Denise’s work constantly (including this book) for my own personal growth. Want to hear some more? Check out our YouTube interview. This is especially relevant for you if you’re ready to kick into a higher receptive mode financially over the coming months.

3. The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent by Abraham Hicks

“If something you want is slow to come to you, it can only be for one reason: You are spending more time focused upon its absence than you are about its presence.”

Last week my friends and I went to see Abraham Hicks at a Law of Attraction (incredible!) workshop in Connecticut. After following Abraham for years, being in their presence actually made me nervous! And it was everything I hoped it would be. The room was visibly moved. Because Abraham’s words are ancient. True. To me they are irrefutable.

Known as the original teacher of the law of attraction, when you read this book your entire life somehow makes sense. Most noteworthy is how you’ve attracted everything – from your income to your level of health and wellbeing to your relationships at work – to you. And finally, you feel the security that comes from understanding that you do create your own reality.

Have you checked out one of these good summer reads already?

If not, what good summer reads do you know of? I live for a good book and almost always only take them from recommendations from my cool and clever community!
